Lake Edge Garden Tour

Summer is here and that means the height of the gardening season is coming. There are so many gardeners in our neighborhood that it would be fun to have a garden tour this summer.

Sound like fun? If so, we're looking for a few people to open their gardens/yards to the group.

Here's how it would work:

Gather at Megan's house (4009 Maher Ave.) for a potluck brunch at 9:30am on Saturday, July 30. Hang out and eat, tour Megan's garden. Then walk to and visit 2-3 other neighborhood gardens. Finish around 1:30pm. Eat good food, get to know one another, be inspired by gardens. Sounds like a dream day!

This is about real peoples' gardens! We're not going for a magazine garden tour. We want to see your weeds and brush piles because that's what our gardens look like, too. There aren't any particular requirements to have your garden on the tour. If you want us to come then we want to see it! Shade gardens, butterfly gardens, vegetable gardens, perennial gardens - they're all welcome on the tour.

If you'd like to volunteer your garden please email Megan Cain at mcain8@gmail.com.

Everybody else, mark your calendars for Saturday, July 30!

July 16 Update:

9:30am – 1:30pm

Starts at Megan Cain & Mark Sundlin's House
4009 Maher Ave.

11:30am – 1:30pm-ish ~ Walk to three more gardens in the neighborhood.

What to Bring
1.      A brunch dish to share. We're expecting somewhere between 20-30 people.
2.      A tag for your food listing the ingredients.
3.      Your own cup, plate, bowl, utensils. (I'll have some spare if you forget.)
4.      If you have an extra camp chair or two you can bring that would be great!
5.      Umbrella in case of light rain. We'll go ahead unless the weather looks pretty bad.

What I'll Have on Site
Coffee, tea, water, cream, sugar, napkins.
A tent for shade with tables for the food.
As many chairs as I can round up.
